David Allen Kubiak, beloved father, husband, and son, died in a tragic fishing accident Tuesday, November 3, 2009. David was born to Donald J. and Diane L. Kubiak in Newport Beach, California, in July 1962.
David's greatest passion, like that of his grandfather Axel, father Don, and uncles Harlen, Richard, and Allen before him, was commercial fishing. David often reminisced about birthdays at sea with his father. David proved to be a true man at age 15, when he and his brother, Chris, helped their father bring the family's F/V (fishing vessel) from Texas through the Panama Canal home to Morro Bay. The family repeated this adventure three years later to bring his grandfather Axel''s F/V Skagerrak, F/V Cassie and F/V Lille Baelt home to Morro Bay.
David attended Morro Bay High School and married Paige L. Johnson on December 27, 1986, and again November 11, 2003. David served on of the Central California Cable Fisheries Committee and was a lifelong advocate of the commercial fishing industry.
He was a true fisherman at sea, providing for his family. David was doing what he loved. He never gave up and fought to stay alive to get home to the people who love him.

Survivors include his parents, Don and Diane Kubiak; the love of his life, Paige; son, Gunnar; daughter, Taliah; mother-in-law, Cherrie Johnson; brother, Christopher (Teresa); niece, Brooke; sister Cassie (Gene); his tightly knit extended family; the Larsens and Boltons; Uncle Ron Kubiak; and the extended family of commercial fishermen and wonderful friends.
